Prudence and Ambrose are at odds on what to do with Blackwood. While it’s been 15 years for him, it’s only been a month for Ambrose and Prudence. He’s spent 15 years inside a temporal church of his own making, purifying himself to wield magicks they couldn’t possibly fathom. Ambrose grabs the egg and threatens to destroy it. In the time it takes her to reach him, he’s killed the Deep One and turned his attention to Prudence.

As payment, Faustus offers the creature two teenagers as sacrifices. A creature known only as the Deep One rises from the water and gives Faustus some kind of large, transparent egg. Faustus calls upon the watery guardians of the west to rise. Prudence and Ambrose finally catch up to him near a river whilst he’s in the middle of a summoning ritual. Prudence and Ambrose have traveled to Scotland in search of Father Blackwood. Judas and Judith plead with Prudence not to kill their father Zelda calms Judas and chats with Prudence, asking if she has been giving him goat's milk. Father Blackwood scolds her for letting the baby cry. Judas is cared after by his older sister, Prudence while their father tends to more important coven matters. This act garners envy from Prudence, as she is not given the same privileges. On the 25th of December, during the Yule holiday, Father Blackwood proudly presents Judas as his son to his relatives. Zelda instead informs Faustus that Judas devoured his weaker twin in the womb.

Unfortunately, she dies after giving birth to the twins and Zelda hides the existence of his, sister, Judith, as they were expecting twin boys. Constance then tells Prudence and Zelda that her children must be preserved no matter what. One of the babes is pushed out but something is wrong as Zelda immediately hides the child. So his father, Faustus, summons Zelda to the Academy of Unseen Arts so that she can help with the birthing process. Judas' mother, Constance, goes into labor.
